Unshackle Upstate, a non-partisan, pro-taxpayer, pro-economic growth, education and advocacy coalition made up of business and trade organizations from all parts of Upstate New York, supports this legislation.

This bill will move up the effective date of part AAA of Chapter 59 of the Laws of 2017, which authorizes transportation network companies (TNCs) to operate throughout the state, by ten days in order to allow ride sharing over the Fourth of July weekend.

As the summer tourism nears, it is important that the people of Upstate New York and those who visit Upstate New York have access to modern and reliable transportation options.

This legislation will help Upstate tourism by making ride-haling services available over the July 4th weekend.

Upstate New Yorkers have waited long enough to have access to services such as Uber and Lyft. We urge lawmakers to approve this legislation to authorize ride-haling services Upstate ride-hailing services as soon as possible.
