6/18/10: Legislature Should Reject Piecemeal Budget Process

"In typical Albany fashion, the Assembly voted today on elements of the budget pertaining to transportation, economic development, environmental conservation, public protection and general government without a vision of what the entire budget will look like. Unshackle Upstate thanks the members of the Assembly who voted against this reckless piecemeal budget process. Unfortunately, it appears as though the Legislature is gearing up to yet again sucker punch New York's taxpayers and job creators with a budget that increases state spending and includes new taxes, fees and assessments.

When the Senate reconvenes on Monday, we hope that all 62 members have the courage to reject the provisions that passed in the Assembly. The actions of Legislators who fail to act in the best interest of their constituents will be remembered when voters go to the polls on Judgment Day - November 2."
