Statement Regarding Three-Way Agreement on Tax Reform and Job Creation Plan

Posted: Dec 6th, 2011

“The framework agreement reached today by Governor Cuomo, Senate Majority Leader Skelos and Assembly Speaker Silver will provide relief to Upstate taxpayers and employers allowing middle class New Yorkers to bring home more of their hard-earned dollars.  This is something that is long overdue and comes at a good time as we approach the end of the year.

While we remain concerned that there is little relief for our local governments, the proposed inclusion of tax relief for the state’s manufacturing sector, coupled with additional flood relief for our communities and the leaders’ support for the design-build process for infrastructure improvements should help to stimulate private sector job growth.

While there’s much that we support in this package, we cannot simply stop here and claim success.  We call on our elected officials to address the continued regulatory burden placed on our businesses, local governments and school districts with significant relief in the 2012 legislative session. ”
